Stephen
Daldrys multi-award-winning production of JB Priestleys classic drama
returns to the West End for a strictly limited season of eight weeks
running from September 22nd to November 14th following a
hugely-successful UK tour. It was originally produced by the National
Theatre in 1992 and well in excess of two million theatregoers have
watched the production since then. Written at the end of the Second
World War (and set before the First) the play is a compelling and
haunting thriller with the story beginning when Inspector Goole
mysteriously and unexpectedly calls on the prosperous Birling family
home. Their peaceful family dinner party is shattered by his
investigations into the death of a young woman. The
critically-acclaimed actor Nicholas Woodeson, who played the part of
Inspector Goole on Broadway where the production won 14 awards,
reprises the role in this production with David Roper (Arthur Birling),
Sandra Duncan (Sybil Birling), Marianne Oldham (Sheila Birling) and
Robin Whiting (Eric Birling). |
