The
worlds longest-running musical now in its 24th year is based upon the
novel by Victor Hugo with lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and music by
Claude-Michel Schonberg. The story concerns love and bravery in
19th-century France during the heroic revolutionary struggles while
this international award-winning musical sweeps its audience through an
epic tale of passion and destruction. The current cast includes Gary
Watson as Marius who was previously seen in the West End in Evita while
Edward Baruwa as Enjolras was in theatreland in Porgy and Bess and
Dancing in the Streets. Other parts are played by Melanie La Barrie
(Madame Thnardier), Cassandra Compton (Eponine), Claire-Marie Hall
(Cosette), John Owen-Jones (Jean Valjean), Hans Peter Janssens
(Javert), Joanna Ampil (Fantine) and Chris Vincent (Thnardier). |
