Opened
in 1899, it is the youngest of London's mainline terminal stations, and
also one of the smallest, with it opening with half of the platforms
that it was originally envisaged to have. It is also the only terminal
station in London without electrified platforms, meaning that for many
years it was only served by diesel multiple units. Marylebone is
operated by Chiltern Railways and operates train services on the
Chiltern Main Line and London to Aylesbury Line routes to High Wycombe,
Aylesbury, Bicester, Banbury, Leamington Spa, Stratford-upon-Avon,
Birmingham (Snow Hill), and Kidderminster. |
